Personally, I don't see these women as plus-sized. I see them as heatlthy, real, and beautiful. More often, I think that the media needs to promote normal sized women, like these models, in a positive way. And I think most of you will agree with me that real women have curves. =)

I once heard a fellow say he didn't like the straight-bodied willowy gals because they didn't look like women to him, they looked like little girls and therefore made him feel disgusted at their attempts at "sex appeal". This had never occurred to me before, but I thought it was a very valid point. Men being visual creatures, it's hard for me to believe Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie can be all that appealing as they seem to lack the feminine traits guys tend to notice first... Boobs and butt. If guys found the absence or under development of these traits appealing they would just stare at themselves all day. While traditional gender roles aren't as absolute for survival as they once were, the nature side of it still dictates attraction and history proves strong masculine figures still seek strong feminine figures to "increase the herd" with because they have the greatest chance of survival. Everyone else falls somewhere in between. If we could all just get over our mental hang-ups of what we THINK is attractive to the opposite sex, as opposed to what actually is, we'd all be better off. Yeah, I'm rambling. Anywho, bottom line is, normal people don't like skeletons, they're creepy...especially in the dark.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree!!! In high school we actually did an exercise in health class that proved how different genders thought about each other and each others values. boys thought romance was just as important as girls, and what we thought was attractive to the boys really wasn't. It was just very interesting to see the differences mentally that affected our own appearances.
